Friday 29 April, at the flag square of theInstitute of Aeronautical Military Sciences (ISMA), 45 young students of the "Giulio Douhet" Air Force Military School have sworn allegiance to the Italian Republic in the presence of family members and the highest civil, military and religious Institutional positions.
The ceremony, presided over by the AM chief of staff, aerial team general Enzo Vecciarelli and in the presence of the commander of the Schools, gen. sa Franco Girardi, was opened by the intervention of the col. Michele Buccolo, commander of the Aeronautical Military School: "Your most important goal must be to become good citizens tomorrow, even before being good military. The ethical and cultural set-up that you are assimilating in this School, in fact, must be for everyone You are an essential tool to affirm yourself in society, which awaits you as honest and capable Italians. You are about to embark on a complex, challenging but certainly courageous journey, testifying to how you can still look with trust and hope to generations like yours, proud and capable of embracing values of fidelity, sacrifice and a sense of duty ".
General Vecciarelli, in his speech, thanked the authorities present and addressed good wishes to the young students of the course Mito: "On this journey let yourself be fascinated and inspired by the values that the Defense expresses today. A defense that for a long time fully embodies the principles of our Constitution and places itself on the world horizon exclusively as an operator of peace, stability and security. proud to embrace reference values such as the sense of duty and the spirit of service to the country and the international community ". The Chief of Staff of the Italian Air Force, at the conclusion of his speech, also stated that "day after day you will appreciate the inner richness that you will be able to acquire in the path of growth that starts from being a good student and a student today and an excellent citizen tomorrow".
At the event, which also establishes the tenth anniversary of the military school Giulio Douhet, also attended the banners of the Tuscany Region, the metropolitan city of Florence and the banner of the city of Florence decorated with a gold medal for military valor; moreover the combatant and Armed associations and the ex-pupils association of the School with a substantial representation intervened, whose presence is a testimony to the indissoluble link between the past, the present and the future for the men and women of the same Scholastic Institute.
The swearing-in ceremony was followed by the baptism of the course which took the name "Mito".
The godfather, general of the air division Gianfranco Camperi, ex-commander of the ISMA, handed over to the leader the flag that will identify and always accompany the course itself.
The military high school "Giulio Douhet", employed by the commander of the ISMA, gen. by Stefano Fort, is a secondary school of secondary education; inaugurated in the 2006 it carries out the courses of the second triennium in the classical and scientific addresses, which is accessed by public competition.
I am currently at school Douhet 132 students whose female 41, divided into the Iris Course at the third and final year of attendance, the course Lyra in the second year of attendance and the course Mito, incorporated last 7 September 2015.
