12/09/14

The new academic year of the Aerocooperation School was inaugurated with the start of the first two courses on the calendar.

The first, started last September 8, is the 16 ° RSO course (Remote Sensing Operator) with 27 visitors, between officers and non-commissioned officers of the air force and a representative of the council presidency, whose educational goal is to qualify, in about three weeks, the staff in charge of the treatment and management, at a basic level, of remotely sensed images, with particular reference to digital images coming from different types of sensor.

The other training commitment is the 59 ° FAC (Forward Air Controller) course, aimed at military personnel in permanent service of all the armed forces, to certify "advanced air controller". Also in this edition, with 21 frequenters, there was a wide representation of the Italian army with 15 participants, followed by officers and non-commissioned officers of the aeronautics, navy and weapon of the carabinieri. The course will end in the second half of November.

The air brigadier general Fabio Giunchi, commander of the school, in the greeting address to the attendant staff, wanted to underline how "with these two training steps, in the respective areas of remote sensing and aerocooperation of the School, you all start a training process and very broad and diversified training, of very high value for the operations of the armed forces ". Continuing, General Giunchi recalled how "the complex transformation and internationalization project that in the short term will also affect the School of Aerocooperation, is aimed not only at satisfying the renewed operational needs of the Defense, but also at achieving that 'capacity of excellence' in advanced training, for the benefit of the national armed forces and of allied and friendly countries, as recognized by the NATO certification of the entire FAC training process ".

The Aerocooperation School is the military institute for specialized training and technical-operative value in the field of interpretation of remote sensing images (aerial and satellite) and in that of aeroterrestrial and aeronaval cooperation.

The courses held at the Aerocooperation School are open not only to the military personnel of the armed forces, but also to personnel from outside the Defense administration and to NATO military personnel and countries participating in the international Partnership for Peace program (PfP - Partnership for Peace), subject to authorization by the Defense General Staff.
