"Scramble" for the Eurofighters of the 4th Wing

This morning at 12.30 approximately from the air base of Grosseto, home of the 4 ° Stormo, two fighters Euro Fighter of the Italian Air Force, in alarm service on the national territory, took off to identify a Boeing 789 of Arabian Airlines, direct from Paris to Jedda, with which communications from the ground had been interrupted.

The interception took place above the skies of Orbetello after a few minutes from the take-off, where the fighters established eye contact with the Boeing 789, ensuring that it was not in emergency or danger conditions.

The two Euro Fighter they received the order of immediate take-off - in technical jargon Scramble - from the CAOC (Combined Air Operation Center) of Torrejon, a NATO body responsible for monitoring the skies in the area, and were controlled by the operating room of the Radar Group of the Air Force of Poggio Renatico.

Once the aircraft was identified, the two fighters escorted it outside the national borders, into the skies of Calabria, maintaining the position and checking that it continued the flight along the authorized route.
