Scramble for the EFA of the 36 ° Stormo

(To air Force)
03/06/16

Wednesday at 18.00 from the Gioia del Colle air base, headquarters of the 36th Wing, two fighters Euro Fighter of the Air Force, in alarm service on the national territory, took off to verify a sudden loss of altitude of an aircraft Cessna 560 of Serbian nationality.

The interception took place above the skies of Manfredonia (FG) where fighters identified the airplane and ascertained that the loss of altitude was due to a malfunction of the pressurization system.

The two Euro Fighter received the immediate take-off order - in technical jargon "scramble" - from the CAOC (Combined Air Operation Center) of Torrejon, a NATO body responsible for the area, and were controlled by the operations room of the Radar Group of the Air Force of Poggio Renatico.

Once the aircraft was identified and the normal contacts with the Air Defense were restored, the two fighters accompanied the same outside the national borders maintaining the position and checking that it proceeded to leave, subsequently receiving from the national authority the order to return home.
