Sardinia: the AM is engaged with two emergency transport

11/02/15

Yesterday a young Algherese from 32 years, admitted to the intensive care unit of the Santissima Annunziata civil hospital in Sassari, was transferred urgently from the Airport Detachment of the Alghero Air Force (SS) to the Bologna airport with an Airbus A319 of the 31 ° Stormo for the subsequent admission to the intensive care unit of the Institute of Rehabilitation of Montecatone in Imola (BO).

The patient, due to a severe spinal cord disease, could only be transported with an AM medium.

The traumatized young man was loaded on board the aircraft with the ambulift - a special device that allows easy loading of stretchers or wheelchairs - made available by So.Ge.A.Al, the civil airport management company of Alghero

Since the beginning of the year this is the sixth emergency transport operated by Air Force aircraft at the airport of Alghero which is the airport used for medical flights throughout northern Sardinia, as it is close to the main hospital facilities of the territory.

Today the Situation Room of the Air Force Command of Rome of the Air Force has received from the Cagliari Prefecture the request for a medical transport of maximum urgency in favor of a man in imminent danger of life.

The aircraft, a Falcon 900 Easy, flew to Cagliari where, having reached its destination, he boarded a seriously ill 75 man to transfer him to Milan.

The aircraft of the 31 ° Stormo of Ciampino are used for the transport of State and for missions of public utility, such as emergency medical transport of patients, serious traumatized and transplant organs, as well as for interventions in favor of people however in risk situations. This last activity, given the imminent danger of life of the people transported, imposes a level of promptness twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year.
