As part of the arrangements to ensure the security of national interests in the Central Mediterranean area, the capacity for surveillance and information acquisition was increased by temporarily redeploying 4 AMX aircraft of the 51 ° Stormo di Istrana (TV) at the base of Trapani Birgi in Sicily.
The decision has matured following recent developments in the North African countries and the consequent deterioration of security conditions.
This measure is to be included among those previously adopted by the Government of the Mediterranean area relating to the "Safe Sea" operation implemented to protect the multiple national interests and to ensure consistent levels of security.
