(To air Force)
19/02/16

With a take-off in formation, the Eurofighters of the 4th, 36th and 37th Wing left today from Grosseto to Nellis AFB (State of Nevada - USA) and will take part in one of the most impressive exercises of 2016 called "Red Flag" . Two KC767A tanker aircraft of the 14th Wing from Pratica di Mare and three C130J of the 46th Air Brigade from Pisa also took off with them to support the ocean crossing.

In the coming weeks the Italian 8 Eurofighters, along with numerous aircraft from other countries including the United States and Turkey, will be engaged in complex aerial scenarios both in the day and at night.

The main objective will be to train Italian personnel in planning and execution, in concert with foreign colleagues, of flight missions in complex operational scenarios. This training is also an important opportunity to develop the ability to redeploy at considerable distances from Italy, in environmental conditions that are often very different from those present on the national territory, complex units capable of effectively inserting themselves into modern operational contexts.

The "Red Flag" is an aerial exercise in which the pilots consolidate the ability to use the weapon systems supplied and the validity of their respective tactics, by organizing and coordinating "packages" consisting of a large number of aircraft, while consolidating the ability to operate jointly with other Departments in air operations.
