Four medical transports for the 31 ° Stormo

Between Saturday 30 August and the night of the 1 September, a Falcon 50 aircraft of the 31 ° Stormo of Ciampino (Rome) conducted four emergency medical transports, touching with its displacement seven Italian cities in six different regions. Transportation involved four patients awaiting an organ transplant.

The first dual medical transport, authorized by the summit meeting room of the Rome air force, was held at dawn on Saturday 30 from Ciampino to Trapani.

Taking off from Ciampino at 03: 05, the aircraft of the air force landed in Trapani at 04: 05 and, after embarking on the patient, a woman of 37 years, returned to 04: 20 for Turin.

After leaving the patient, the Falcon 50 continued on to Milan, where it landed at 06: 25, landed the second patient, a man of 56 years, where an ambulance was waiting for him to be transferred to health facilities. At 07: 45 the aircraft returned to Ciampino.

In the meantime, a request had already arrived at the situation room from the prefecture of Naples for an additional urgent medical transport from Naples to Pisa, on Sunday 31 August. The Falcon 50, which took off at 00:45 from Ciampino, landed in Naples where the patient, a 64-year-old man, took off for the city of Pisa. After landing at Pisa San Giusto airport, around 02:55, the patient was transferred by ambulance to the Pisa university. At 04:00 the aircraft returned to Ciampino. The fourth and last urgent medical transport took place on the night of September 14st. The transport, previously requested by the prefecture of Catania, concerned a child under 00, waiting for an organ transplant. The plane took off from Ciampino at 10:2 towards Catania and, having boarded the little patient immediately after landing, took off again with destination Venice. At 55:04 the landing in the Veneto capital, where the little patient was then transferred by ambulance to the hospital in Padua. At about 40:50 the Falcon 31 returned to Ciampino. At the request of the competent state bodies, the Air Force ensures the emergency medical air transport of citizens in imminent danger of life, of seriously injured persons and organs for transplants, as well as of persons in any case in situations of risk. This service is carried out by the aircraft of the 46st Wing of Ciampino and the 15th Air Brigade of Pisa, as well as the helicopters of the XNUMXth Wing of Cervia.

The urgency that characterizes this type of activity requires a high level of readiness, which is maintained for twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year.
