Sea Practice: recovery exercise at sea

14/07/15

On Tuesday 7 July, the Pratica di Mare Airport Command carried out an exercise for the recovery of flight crews in the sea as part of the activities related to the "Airport Emergency Plan".

The plan provides for the execution of periodic tests to test the first aid procedures when an emergency / plane crash occurs.

The event, organized on the stretch of sea in front of the coast, at the extraordinary AM branch of Torvaianica, saw the participation of the Flying Departments of the Air Force, the Carabinieri and the Guardia di Finanza and a boat of the Port Authority of Fiumicino.

The test simulated a plane crash at sea in the immediate vicinity of the airport grounds with the aim of bringing to safety, thanks to a helicopter HH-139 of the 85th CSAR Center (Combat Search And Rescue), the crew.

The exercise was also attended by fire fighting service personnel and the Pratica di Mare airport health service.

Maintaining a high level of training in the inter-force field, strengthening synergies and consolidating the procedures, is of fundamental importance because it is in this scenario that, in the event of a real event, it would work.
