The handover ceremony at the head of the 8th "Communication" department of the Air Force General Staff between Air Brigade General Giovanni Francesco Adamo and General of the Urbano Floreani air brigade.
The ceremony was presided over by the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Air Squadron General Aurelio Colagrande, and saw the participation, as well as a representation of the department's staff, of numerous guests, both from other SMA departments, high commands and joints of the Palazzo AM district, and of the various external entities with which the armed force has consolidated collaborative relationships in the field of communication.
General Adamo, in his farewell speech, wanted to retrace the most important events, activities and challenges that the department faced and managed under his command, which began in December 2019, which after a few months had to face the Covid emergency, and culminated with the celebrations for the Centenary of the Air Force. “All the projects carried out were the result of tenacious and constant work, supported by our ability to adapt and give our best even in the context of activities that are sometimes far from our daily work. Projects that obviously we would not have been able to carry out without the fundamental support of important partners and sponsors, whom I take this opportunity to thank. At the same time, we continued to sow and at the end of this year and in 2024, many other projects will materialize". Turning then to his successor, he said he was certain that the department will be “ready to face new challenges with the same spirit and vigor as always, with that wealth of professionalism and humanity that I will always carry in my heart”.
General Floreani, after a dutiful "thoughts of the fallen and of all those who, following our flag with sacrifice, have left us a heavy legacy", and heartfelt thanks to the superior authorities for the trust placed in him by entrusting him with the reins of the Department, he addressed his predecessor, renewing his commitment to “continue on the path traced and giving continuity to the projects started, to face the new challenges with the awareness that what has been done constitutes a solid basis for moving forward in the right direction. […] We will work together respecting and helping each other – concluded General Floreani, addressing the department staff directly – encouraging us to continue carrying out our mission with excellence, supporting us in managing difficulties, ready to demonstrate that we are something more than colleagues. I expect you to have the right sensitivity in grasping the priorities and supporting the activities in harmony and participation, ready to come to our aid without having to ask for it".
“Particularly in this Centenary year, the 5th department was the absolute protagonist in highlighting the excellence that the Air Force has achieved in the use of the aerospace instrument at the service of citizens and the entire country system”, said the deputy head of SMA in his speech. “You have explored, in an absolutely transversal way, the domain of communication, and I use the word domain not by chance because the Centenary was approached by you as a complex military operation, through meticulous and meticulous planning and superlative conduct of the operation ”. Addressing the two general officers, outgoing and incoming, General Colagrande wanted to thank General Adamo for being a safe guide for the department staff, leading them with serenity and determination to achieve the objectives set and renewing General Floreani's welcome to the family of the Air Force General Staff, certain that he will be able to take up the baton of his predecessor with absolute serenity and competence.
The 5th department promotes the values, role and image of the Air Force according to the evolutionary lines of society, developing communication policies and communication strategies calibrated to the military dimension.
