"In the name of the Prancing Horse"

The volume accompanying and deepening the exhibition was presented yesterday in Rome, at Palazzo Aeronautica, in the presence of the Chief of Staff of the Italian Air Force, Pasquale Preziosa, team leader. "In the sign of the Prancing Horse Francesco Baracca among Mito and History ".

The initiative was carried out by the Aeronautical Museum Gianni Caproni, from the Autonomous Province of Trento in collaboration with the "Francesco Baracca" Museum of Lugo and the Italian Air Force.

The exhibition and the related volume recount the figure of the greatest Italian hunting ace during the First World War and the history of the Prancing Horse, recently recognized as the most famous Italian symbol in the world.

For the exhibition "In the sign of the Prancing Horse" the Armed Forces has made available some important memorabilia that are displayed to the public for the first time, reflecting the importance and commitment made by the Air Force for protection, safeguard and the spread of aviation culture and its values. Important documents will also be on display from the archives of the Vittoriale degli Italiani and from the collections of the "Francesco Baracca" Museum in Lugo, which for the occasion has made available a substantial part of its memorabilia, allowing it to compose an exhibition on the figure of great ace of aviation of the first world war ever so complete.

The Air Force has also produced videos that allow visitors to take a virtual journey to discover Francesco Baracca by Amerigo Bartoli Natinguerra and his last day of life.

An unprecedented exhibition, therefore, which represents the first result of the ability to make the network system of the country's major museum institutions engaged in the dissemination of historical aeronautical culture. Since the summer of 2014 the Air Force has in fact concluded a series of framework agreements for the start of permanent collaborations aimed at spreading the historical and technical-scientific culture linked to aeronautics through the enhancement of collections and specific educational and dissemination activities.
