Gold Medal of the Constantinian Order at the 46 ^ Air Brigade

Last Friday, in Pisa, at the end of a Holy Mass celebrated in the Kindu Shrine, in the presence of the commander of the Support and Special Forces Command (CFSS), general of the air division Roberto Comelli, the 46 ^ Air Brigade was given the Gold Medal of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George.

"For the multiplicity of uses, both in the military and for emergency medical transport, for the transport of organs for transplants, for the support of the medical teams, for the support of the Emergency Surgery Group of the Hospital of Pisa, to support government departments such as the Civil Protection and for the numerous air transport activities of humanitarian aid to the populations hit by natural disasters both in Italy and abroad ".

The Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George is an Equestrian Order whose origins, by tradition, date back to the Emperor Constantine, after the appearance of the Cross at Saxa Rubra, during the historic battle of Ponte Milvio between Maxentius and Constantine, in 312 AD . It is therefore considered the oldest of the knightly orders. Proposing the propagation of the Faith and the glorification of the Cross, it offers its contribution of action and activity in the works of social, humanitarian and hospital assistance.

The 46 ^ Air Brigade of Pisa with the C130 and C27J aircraft ensures strategic and tactical air transport for missions inside and outside national borders, emergency medical transport, medical evacuation by air, transportation of materials, men and vehicles all over the world, 24 hours on 24, 365 days a year, thanks to the men and means of its three Flight Groups: 2 °, 50 ° and 98 °.
