Mauritians and two solemn commendations to the staff of the AM Logistic Command

Today the room dedicated to the hero Francesco Baracca, at the House of the Aviator, was the backdrop to the simple but significant ceremony of delivery of the "Mauritian Medal on the merit of ten years of military career" and other awards to the staff dependent on the Command Air Force Logistics.

In the presence of the general of the aerial team Gabriele Salvestroni, Logistic commander, they were awarded officers and non-commissioned officers from the departments of the High Command, including the personnel who recently left the active service. The event was also attended by the vice president of the National Association "Nastro Verde", general Mario De Nuntiis, who spoke with the banner of the association that brings together the honored with the important honor established by Carlo Alberto, King of Sardinia, in the far 19 July of the 1839.

In the brief opening speech, General Salvestroni greeted the guests and the decorators to whom he expressed his satisfaction with the commitment shown and the results achieved during his long military career. The Logistics Commander highlighted how the honor conferred constitutes an important recognition of the Armed Force: "it represents the tangible sign of the thanks that the State intends to address you for the physical and mental resources you have spent to serve the institutions of the Republic, but at the same time , this medal renews your daily commitment to our society, so that you pass on to the new generations - through your children, your grandchildren - respect for the values ​​and traditions in which you yourself have believed and still believe. "

At the end of the delivery of the "Mauritians", the ceremony continued with the conferral of two other important awards: "Honor, fidelity and merit are the values ​​that also characterize the second part of this ceremony". With these words, General Salvestroni introduced the delivery of the Solemn Commendations to General Inspector Piervalerio Manfroni, Head of the Health Service of the Logistic Command, and to Colonel Antonino Monaco, Head of the General Office of the Logistic Command, paid respectively by the Chief of Staff of the Air Force and the Joint Chief Operating Officer. "Listening to the reasons - added General Salvestroni - we will all be proud of the enthusiasm, professionalism and courage really admirable expressed by General Manfroni and Colonel Monaco in the fulfillment of duty in absolutely exceptional circumstances".

Granted pursuant to the Code of the Military Order, the two Solemn Commendations refer to very different "operational" situations that testify to the important contribution that the Air Force has expressed both in the context of the national device for the management of the Ebola emergency and in Operations Outside National Borders (OFCN). In particular in the context of the complex transport operations in high biocontainment of the Italian doctor who tested positive for the Ebola virus in Sierra Leone, the general inspector Manfroni conducted all the planning phases of the activities with great professionalism and authority, coordinating the delicate and complex procedures management of the event with the Ministry of Health and the Lazzaro Spallanzani Institute of Rome, contributing significantly to the success of the same. 

Colonel Monaco, on the other hand, in the period in which he was commander of the Task Force Air of Al Bateen (UAE), became the protagonist of a series of targeted interventions and a series of activities at a very particular moment, due to the redeployment in progress from Afghanistan. Furthermore, although he was particularly involved in the many activities to support operations in progress in Afghanistan, he contributed significantly to identifying operational and logistical solutions necessary for the department to cope with the changed scenario.

The Logistics Command is one of the three High Command of the Air Force whose mission is to ensure the technical-logistical support necessary to achieve the maximum operability of the AM, compatibly with the resources assigned, to guarantee in particular the efficiency of the systems weapon, equipment, means, infrastructure, materials, goods and services, as well as health care for personnel, through the work of the Departments and dependent Bodies and in synergy with the other High Controls.

The Logistics Command, the summit of the technical, logistic and administrative structure of the Armed Forces, is responsible for the procurement, conservation and distribution of the means and materials necessary for the life of the Departments. 

The Logistics Command ensures the necessary support for flight lines, weapon systems, radar systems, IT and telecommunications systems, police, health and infrastructure services, ensuring experimentation and technical-operational assessment of weapon systems, means and materials.
