The Red Cross volunteer nurses who will operate on the Air Force aircraft

With the greetings of the commander of the Air Squad, general of the air squad Maurizio Lodovisi, and of the National Inspector of Volunteer Nurses of the Italian Red Cross, sister Monica Dialuce Gambino, the start of the course was formalized Assistant of Air SAR. for the formation of some Red Cross nurses.

The volunteer nurses attend this eight-day course that began on November 16 with the aim of carrying out their work in the medical transport carried out by the Air Force aircraft and in operations Search And Rescue. Before the start of the course, the candidates had to verify their fitness to fly in the same way as for military personnel, in order to ensure the maximum effectiveness of their operational activity.

The course, organized by Support and Special Forces Command, is divided into two phases. The first theoretical at theInstitute of Specialization and Training in Aeronautical and Space Medicine, the second practice at the 31st Wing of Ciampino with training on the ground and on the various air carriers of the armed force.

In a completely innovative way, the participants of the 16 ° Assistant course of Air SAR, will be enabled for use on fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, in order to be able to offer an increasingly qualified professionalism, confirming the renewed synergy between the CRI Nursing Corps andBlue Weapon.

With the aircrafts supplied, the Air Force carries out health activities in favor of the population with the transport of patients in particular conditions and with Search and Rescue operations (SAR) through the helicopters of the 15 ° Stormo. All departments employed in these activities are employed by the Support and Special Forces Command which is based in Centocelle (Rome).

Le CRI Volunteer Nurses, known by all as Red Cross, auxiliary to the armed forces, in addition to providing assistance, help and comfort in case of national and international emergencies, they have always been used also in humanitarian missions in Italy and abroad. For over 30 years, a rate is qualified and is used throughout the national territory also to operate in the health missions carried out by the Air Force.
