The 46ª Air Brigade celebrates the 75 years

The 25 June 2015 was the ceremony for the 75 years of the 46ª Air Brigade in the presence of the Chief of Staff of the Italian Air Force, Pasquale Preziosa aerial team general.

The event was also attended by the commander of the air team, general of the air team Maurizio Lodovisi, the commander of the Support and Special Forces, general of the air division Roberto Comelli, the commander of the 46ª Air Brigade, and general of air brigade Roberto Boi numerous military and civil authorities of Pisa.

During his speech, General Preziosa recalled the role of the 46ª Air Brigade for the Armed Forces and for the Country. "The men and women of 46esima", he recalled, in whatever circumstances are called to intervene, "they are always the first to arrive and the last to leave" and always "with the tricolor as a business card". The Chief of Staff has retraced the history of the Brigade recalling the most significant interventions, among the many carried out. "These 75 years," he concluded, "are a long story, an epic of values, mission and freedom. Thousands and thousands of dedicated flight hours to bring help. Men and women of 46esima, I am proud of you! "

General Boi, in turn, recalled the fallen of the Brigade, many of whom rest in the Kindu Shrine, at the entrance to the Base. "The spirit of sacrifice is the essence of the 46ª Air Brigade. It permeates us all. And it is not a merit, it is a condition ". The commander, quoting the well-known philosopher Sophocles who said that "the most beautiful human work is to help others", recalled the recurring verbs of 46esima: "cooperate, collaborate, bring help, support". Addressing the Mayor of Pisa, he then underlined how the Brigade is "an integral part of the city, to which" the same vocation to excellence "is shared. Finally addressing the Chief of Staff of the Italian Air Force, he stressed that "the 46" Air Brigade is only one of many, many variations of the Air Force "

At the end of the ceremony, a brief display in flight greeted the participants, including many family members and former members of the Brigade, who were able to appreciate the static exhibition set up with some of the Brigade's historic planes and take advantage of the stands where memorabilia and photos were exhibited historical, as well as the equipment for transport in bio-containment, one of the excellences of the Brigade and the Air Force
