On Saturday 19 September, at the 3 ° flock of the AM of Villafranca di Verona, the 22 ^ edition of the "Toxic Trip" exercise was launched, with a brief ceremony attended by the staff of the Air Force Military and of the multiple foreign delegations present.

The "Toxic Trip 2015" (TT15) is a multinational training activity, in which 16 countries, plus the host nation, belonging to the North Atlantic Pact Organization (NATO), to the "Partnership for Peace" ( PfP) and the "Mediterranean Dialogue" (MD).

The defense "Air CBRN", an acronym that indicates the application in aeronautical contexts of technology and expertise in the chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear fields, is defined as the set of measures for the management of risks deriving from a critical situation in operations , "Release Other Than Attack" (ROTA) or, even in situations arising from possible chemical accidents on the territory.

The opening ceremony began with the intervention of the chairman of the Air Force, Lieutenant Colonel Alessandro Losio. Then Colonel Massimo Cicerone, the commander of the Verona department and senior of the exercise, took the floor and, declaring himself honored to host this very important activity for the second time, stated that "it is fundamental to increase interoperability in this field", stressing also that "the exercise is based on the effort of the capabilities that the Air Force deploys in the Air CBRN field"

The "TT15" will be developed on scenarios that envisage operations in which the capacities of the participating countries in the Air CBRN sector will be demonstrated, conducted by a risky air base in an environment subject to CBRN effects, which will allow the improvement and maintenance of the procedures already in use in the aeronautical field.

The Armed Forces use sophisticated technologies and avant-garde means in the Air CBRN sector which translate into immediate projectability in crisis areas and, thanks to the engineering studies underlying the projects carried out, it also operates in full respect of energy saving, as well as environmental protection. using, during demonstrations, ecologically compatible substances.

In this exercise, the AM expresses the knowledge acquired and consolidated over the years for the protection of the country. The capabilities developed and already certified by NATO are the expression of technologies that are also applied in supporting institutional components (health ministry, prefectures, civil protection, fire brigade, 118 etc.) in the event of territorial and national emergencies according to logic of the "dual use", peculiarity of the armed force and especially of the 3 ° flock.

A significant example is the transport in "high bio-containment" of subjects affected by the virus Ebola, peculiar capacity held in Europe exclusively by the AM

In addition to Italy, at the "Toxic Trip 2015", about 400 military representatives representing: Belgium, Sweden, France, Germany, Turkey, Great Britain, United States, Canada and Portugal - Member States of the North Atlantic Pact Organization , - Sweden as a member of the "Partnership for Peace" (PfP), the United Arab Emirates and New Zealand as observers, as well as organizations such as the NATO School Oberammergau (Germany), the JCBRN Defense CoE of Vyskov (Czech Republic) and the Joint Air Power Competence Center of Kalkar (Germany).
