Upon his arrival at the Ahmed Al Jaber air base he was greeted by the commander of the air squad, air squad general Maurizio Lodovisi and by the Italian National Contingent Commander Air also commander of the TFA-K. During the visit, the minister met the Ambassador of Italy to Kuwait, Fabrizio Nicoletti, as well as, in separate meetings, Kuwaiti and American military authorities.
The commander of the TFA-K, during a short briefing, illustrated to the Minister of Defense the activities of the Task Force and the operational results achieved in the context of the “Inherent Resolve” operation.
Meeting the Italian staff, the Minister expressed warm thanks on behalf of the Government and Italy: "carry out an important, accurate, fundamental service for the anti-ISIS coalition".
Since October 2014, Air Force personnel and vehicles have been engaged in Air-to-Air Refueling (AAR) and Reconnaissance and Surveillance activities using a Boeing KC-767, 4 Tornado and 2 Predator tankers.
