Defense Minister at the Situation Hall of the Italian Air Force

The defense minister, sen. Roberta Pinotti, went to the Situation Room of the air force command team for an update on the rescue operations of the shipwrecked Norman Atlantic ferry, damaged in the Mediterranean waters after the fire broke out on Sunday 28 December.

Previously, the minister had also visited the Operations Room of the Navy, at CINCNAV.

Minister Pinotti was received by the team aerial general Maurizio Lodovisi, commander of the aerial team, who provided a detailed report on the operations carried out.

The Navy and the Air Force cooperated with the other branches of the state to complete the rescue operations that have ended, at the moment, with the recovery of 427 people.During the meeting, Minister Pinotti, after having expressed his closeness to families of the victims, highlighted the excellent teamwork carried out by the Defense personnel who, together with the other rescuers, made it possible to avoid an even more serious toll in terms of human lives.
