The activity stems from a bilateral agreement between the two countries and is of strategic importance for increasing interoperability between European nations.

The RSV was involved as a leader in a project team that saw the active participation of the Armasuisse Air Force Systems Flight Test Center and the 14 ° Stormo.
Due to the need, the Swiss RSV and the Swiss Air Force Flight Test Center conducted preliminary technical analysis, followed by flight tests. The whole activity took about four weeks of work. The flight tests were performed in two days, for a total of about 10 flight hours.

The Experimental Flight Department has the task of supporting the operational departments of the military air force through the integration, testing and validation of new weapon systems and those subject to modification. The department consists of the 311 ° Gruppo Volo (GV), the Technical Group (GT), the Software Management Group (GGS) and the newborn Engineering Group for Aerospace (GIAS). Recently, the RSV, also in response to changes in the geopolitical, social and economic context, has given a significant boost to the activities in support of the Operational Departments, mainly through the operational technical certification of the technological solutions to be implemented to meet the new needs in the operating theaters .
