The commander of the Finnish air forces in Italy

Last Monday, major general Kim Erkki Akseli Jäämeri, commander of the Finnish air forces, together with a delegation of two officers, went on a working visit to Italy where he was welcomed by the aerial team general Pasquale Preziosa, head of state Major of the Italian Air Force.

Palazzo Aeronautica represented the first stage of the visit of General Jäämeri who first met with General Preziosa in a private meeting and then attended a presentation by the Air Force Staff on the main programs of interest.

Subsequently the delegation, accompanied by the general of the aerial team Maurizio Lodovisi and the general of brigade aerial Roberto Di Marco, went on a visit at the Base of Cameri (Novara) where they were received by the head of the Polifunctional Center Aerotattici Aircraft of Cameri (Ce .Po.VA) general inspector Lucio Bianchi.

The visit was opened by a briefing given by the same General Bianchi who illustrated the activities of the Multipurpose Aerotactic Aircraft Center and the "Final Assembly and Check Out" (FACO), intended for the assembly of the F35 / Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) aircraft and in which around 800 people are currently employed.

The delegation then visited the FACO area, where the activities in progress were verified and the progress of the work was ascertained.

The next day the visit continued at the 61 ° Stormo of Lecce, where the commander of the Finnish air forces was received by the airliner general Franco Girardi, commander of the Schools of the AM / 3a Region Aerea and by the Colonel Paolo Tarantino, commander of the Salento flying school.

After a briefing to present the Department's activities, the delegation visited the main structures of the Base, which has always been a focal point of military flight training and is currently involved in a delicate and complex process of modernization and restructuring, both nationally and international.

The visit, which aroused particular interest in the guests who were able to appreciate the high level reached in the field of advanced flight training, ended with the traditional exchange of crest in memory of the event.
