the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Pasquale Preziosa, an air crew general, visited Sicily, in the Ragusa area. A representative from the 41 ° Stormo Antisom and from Sigonella Airport led by the commander Colonel Federico Fedele received it.
The Sicilian day began in the square flag of the former military airport - now civil - of Comiso (RG), where a memorial stone was discovered and a laurel wreath was placed in memory of the Fallen of the 156 ° "Le Linci" Flight Group in occasion of 75 years since its establishment, occurred in Comiso the 20 January 1941.
The event was attended by the Mayor and all the airport authorities of Comiso, as well as the current Commander of the 156th Group, now stationed in Ghedi (BS). The short and sober ceremony culminated with the blessing of the stone by the Military Chaplain of Sigonella.
The day then continued in Ragusa at the "Fabio Besta" aeronautical institute, where General Precious was welcomed by the manager Antonella Rosa. The highest authorities of the city were also present: the prefect Maria Carmela Librizzi, the commissioner, the various provincial commanders and other guests.
After a first meeting with hundreds of students who crowded the wide corridors of the institute, where for the occasion various historical-photographic exhibitions were prepared concerning the institute and the Air Force, the General Preziosa held in the aula magna its own "Lectio Magistralis", focused on the role and mission of the AM.
Starting from history and tradition, the general paused to illustrate the professionalism and skills that work there, underlining the importance attributed to teamwork, solidarity, culture and the spirit of collaboration and service towards the community and free institutions.
The conference continued with the screening of videos and a presentation on nanotechnology.
The meeting aroused much interest; the boys have asked numerous questions, both to satisfy personal curiosities to deepen some aspects related to the aeronautical world and to the excellences that derive from it.
At the end of the event, in complimenting the discipline demonstrated, General Preziosa urged the students to never stop chasing their dreams, starting from the study and dedication with which they must face any goal. In citing the words determination, competence, commitment, tenacity, hard work, he specified that these are fundamental qualities for achieving oneself as citizens, qualities that the AOS tries to enhance also through its own training institutes.
On the sidelines of the conference and before the visit to the educational laboratories of the institute, the exchange of the crest with the principal and the delivery of a letter of thanks in which the students expressed their satisfaction with the intervention of General Preziosa and for the the possibility, granted to some of them, to have a unique experience when last October they carried out a flight familiarization activity on the aircraft Atlantic of Sigonella's 41 ° Stormo to visit the F35 (FACO) factory in Cameri.
The manager Rosa in turn thanked in a particular way General Preziosa and used the word "privilege" for having been able to welcome him to the institute.
The day ended with the masterful interpretation of the National Anthem by a Besta student, who sang without musical accompaniment.
