In the late afternoon of Tuesday 10 February, the alarm crew SAR (Search And Rescue Search and Rescue) of the 21 ° "Tiger" Group in service at the Military Airport of Grazzanise (CE), received the executive order from part of the Air Operations Command (COA) of Poggio Renatico (Fe) to take off for Monte Faito - in the Monti Lattari mountain range - to search for a thirty-three-year-old man who was missing.

In consideration of the difficult environmental context in which the intervention took place, the AOC ordered the use of an HH-212 helicopter of the 9 ° Stormo of Grazzanise which, having reached the area of operations, began the search for the missing person in coordination with the staff of the National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps (CNSAS).

After a thorough and meticulous search of the interested mountain area, the crew of the HH-212 was able to identify the missing man who was promptly rescued and transported to the emergency room for the appropriate health checks.

The 9 ° Stormo, with its rotary wing assets - HH-212 - and land - Riflemen of the Air - carries out Search and Rescue operations (SAR) of personnel, both in Italy and in the context of international missions, providing the air support to the surface forces and intervening, in the presence of wounded, with the emergency medical evacuation activity. The training and capabilities of the aircraft supplied, as well as the night vision aids used (NVG - Night Vision Google), allow crews to operate and provide rescue both day and night, even in adverse weather conditions.
