On Friday 18 September, at the official club of the G. Moscardini Airport in Frosinone, the ceremony was held for the helicopter pilot eagles and the attendance certificates for twelve Italian Army patrons.
The simple and sober ceremony, presided over by Colonel Antonio Felicissimo, commander of the 72 ° Stormo, was attended by Brigadier General Giancarlo Mazzieri, commander of the Italian Army of Viterbo aviation training center, the flight instructors of the 208 ° flight group, the staff of vocational education group and a large number of family members and friends of the newly patented.
The training course of the attendees began with a theoretical phase divided in turn into two parts: a first part in e-learning mode, during which the attendees were able to follow the online lessons from their own department, always having at provision of a specialized teacher for each subject who could respond promptly to any questions or requests and, above all, could follow the instructional progress of each individual student thanks to an ad hoc monitoring of the progress in the study and the correct passing of each test intermediate. A second part in attendance at the classroom "INS.IAU" (Interactive Teaching Student Training) of the vocational education group of the 72 ° Stormo where the students attended a series of lectures with the teachers of the individual subjects and they took the initial theoretical exams.
After passing the tests required for each subject, the attendees were assigned to the 208 ° Flight Group where they started the volatile part on the TH 500B helicopter. After a highly selective first phase, those who passed the initial flight test, enabling them to make the first solo flight, in order to acquire a general basic preparation preparatory to the use of rotary wing aircraft, have ventured into various forms of flight: advanced sight flight, instrument flight, low-level navigation, mountain flight, training flight, barycentric hook flight and winch flight.
Colonel Antonio Felicissimo, during his speech, in addressing a welcome greeting to the kind guests, expressed words of deep appreciation and congratulated the new helicopter pilots for the ambitious goal achieved and for their commitment during the stay at the flight school in Frosinone. In concluding his speech he reminded the new pilots that "... dedicating yourselves without distractions to training and to your profession, you have perfectly understood that preparation is the basis of your profession and that through it it is possible to overcome every critical moment ..." moreover " … Also the exchange of ideas and experiences will help you to overcome potential risks in carrying out training and operational activities ".
The 72 ° flock, which just in the past few days has celebrated the 30 anniversary of its constitution, directly dependent on the command of the schools of the Air Force / 3 ^ Bari aerial region, is the only helicopter basic flight school in Italy for all armed forces and armed bodies of the state. Moreover, for several years, visitors from foreign countries have been trained at the flight school in Frosinone, thus proceeding towards an ever wider internationalization of the school.
