The UNUCI officials in Rome visit the ReSMA

11/03/15

Last Thursday, the National Union of Italian Leave Officers (UNUCI) - Section of Rome, led by Major (ris) Giorgio Giovannoli, President of the Section, visited the Aeronautical Meteorological Testing Department (ReSMA) of the Italian Air Force Vigna di Valle (RM).

The guests were welcomed by the director, Colonel Augusto Spuri, and his collaborators, for the welcome and for a description of the activities of the Department. Major Giovannoli, in turn, described the activities of UNUCI. At the end of the intervention the traditional Crest exchange took place.

The visit then continued at the experimental area and the meteorological station. Although the weather conditions did not allow a detailed visit to the instrumentation at the measuring field, those present were able to ascertain the high technological and organizational level at the base of meteorological observations, which, by providing increasingly accurate measurements of atmospheric phenomena and parameters, allow to obtain increasingly reliable predictions.

The ReSMA of Vigna di Valle has been working for over one hundred years in the study and experimental verification of meteorological instrumentation, as well as in measuring the chemical-physical variations of the composition of the atmosphere. The Department also ensures the quality of environmental monitoring in compliance with international regulations, which the Meteorological Service of the AM carries out thanks to a network of approximately 100 operating stations, scattered throughout the national territory.
