Yesterday the Survival Center of the Military Air Force of Torre a Mare (Bari) was the scenario in which the rescue operation "Reclaim Naufrago 2014" took place.

The simulation was aimed at consolidating the theoretical and practical knowledge on the recovery procedures of pilots and flight crews ejected in the water following the aircraft's abandonment in emergency.

The exercise, coordinated by Colonel Raimondo D'Andria, chief flight safety office of the command of the military air force / 3ª air region and carried out with the help of a helicopter HH 139A of 84 ° SAR Center (Search and Rescue) of Gioia del Colle, was preceded by a briefing during which a qualified pilot "survival at sea" of the 61 ° flock and an aerosoccorritore of the 84 ° SAR Center have deepened the issues related to the use of equipment and procedures of safety to be implemented during the rescue and water tests.

The activity, carried out in coordination with the port authority of Bari, together with the staff of the command schools AM / 3ª air region and the 36 ° flock of Gioia del Colle, also participated in flight crews of the 61 ° flock of Galatina, a medical officer who has summarized some notions of first aid necessary to help, awaiting the arrival of health care, any injured immediately after an accident, as well as crews of the helicopter corps of the police, the finance police and the state police of Bari .

The castaway recovery exercise, as every year, has shown the results of the commitment that the military forces express, day by day, in their training activities, aimed at obtaining the best preparation to face the events for which they are called to operate the men of air rescue.
