Two Austrian pilots complete the LIFT course

Two Lieutenant pilots of the Austrian Air Force, in training at the Galatina Flight School, have completed the 4 ° Preoperative Course 2014, called LIFT - Lead In to Fighter Training - according to international terminology.

To them, Colonel Paolo Tarantino, commander of the 61 ° Stormo, and the commander of the 212 ° Gruppo Volo handed in the diplomas during a sober ceremony that took place on Friday 17 April.

The course, held by instructor pilots of the 212th Group on MB339CD aircraft, lasted about six months, during which the visitors, both destined for the F-2000 line, were able to learn the basic elements of operational activity on aircraft fighter, testing mission type profiles in flight. In addition to flying missions, some of which were carried out at the Capo Frasca shooting range in Sardinia, the young pilots followed an intense theoretical training program.

Words of appreciation and encouragement were expressed by Colonel Tarantino who did not fail to highlight the value of the work of the 212 ° Gruppo Volo, aimed at the professional growth of the pilots of the Italian operational Departments and of the partner countries interested in the internationalization of the training offer of the 61 ° Stormo which, besides representing a national excellence niche, constitutes a consolidated point of reference in the international field in the advanced training of military pilots.
