Double health assistance from Mantova to Milan

11/10/14

On Tuesday 7 and Thursday 9 October, an HH-139 helicopter of the 83 ° C / SAR group (Combat / Search And Rescue Search and Rescue) of the 15 ° Stormo, took off from Cervia to carry out two emergency medical transports in favor of two patients from Mantua to Milan.

In the first intervention, the crew was alarmed by the operations room of Poggio Renatico (Ferrara) and took off promptly to collect the medical staff and the stretcher needed for helicopter transport. The patient, a 19-year-old boy suffering from a severe form of pneumonia, could not actually breathe independently and therefore had to remain connected to a cardiopulmonary support device. From the San Raffaele hospital the helicopter took off again towards the Poma in Mantua, where the team was able to stabilize the patient's condition in imminent danger of life. Thanks to an effective communication during the flight, it was possible to coordinate the landing and take-off procedures from the Mantova hospital which, for the first time, hosted a night transport helicopter. Once the operations were completed, it was possible to leave the Poma in the direction of Milan, where the boy was hospitalized. The helicopter returned to Cervia at 23.20.

On Thursday 9 October, the HH-139 helicopter of the 83 ° SAR group intervened at the Poma hospital in Mantua, despite the marginal weather conditions to embark a man suffering from cardiopulmonary crisis, together with the medical team and support material to transport it, subsequently, to the San Raffaele hospital in Milan. After just under an hour of flight it was possible to entrust the patient to the most advanced Milanese equipment. The helicopter landed in Cervia at 23: 20.

The 83 ° Combat SAR group of Cervia (RA), dependent on the 15 ° Stormo of the air force, guarantees 24 hours on 24, for 365 days a year, the search and rescue of flight crews in difficulty, competing, moreover, to activities of public utility such as the search for missing persons at sea or in the mountains, the emergency medical transport of the sick in danger of life and the rescue of serious traumatized persons. From its establishment to today, the crews of the 15 ° Stormo have saved more than 7.000 people in danger of life.
