Today, the first of three information events on the approach of men and vehicles to a rotary-wing aircraft was held at the 31 ° Stormo of Ciampino.

The information activity is intended for volunteers of the Italian Red Cross involved in the management of vehicles and provides an indoctrination on the techniques of approaching helicopters in motion during patient embarkation and disembarkation operations. The course includes a preliminary theoretical part held in the classroom and an in-line flight with a practical exercise.

In detail, a 139 ° Stormo VH31 helicopter simulated a landing with subsequent engine shutdown. This allowed all visitors to practice boarding and disembarking a patient from the aircraft, allowing them to appreciate the minimum safety distances and the most obvious dangers.

At the end of the informative event, the commander of the 31 ° Stormo, Colonel Filippo Quagliato, gave all the attendants the certificates of attendance.

The other two events currently planned are scheduled for May.

The aircraft of the 31 ° Stormo of Ciampino are used for State Transport and for public utility missions such as the medical transport of sick, severely traumatized and transplant organs, as well as for interventions in favor of compatriots, however, in situations of risk.

This last activity, given the imminent danger of life of the patients transported, imposes a level of readiness twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year.
