The 29 June ended the re-deployment of NATO Joint Force Command Naples staff engaged in the Trident Joust 2015 exercise. The exercise involved structures of the Armed Forces of 25 NATO countries and over 1.000 people who in the period from 18 to 28 June carried out the first redeployment in Cincu (Romania).

The main objective of the activity was to test, within the NATO Response Force, the operational capacity of Command and Control (C2), by transferring the relative functions from the JFC of Naples to the advanced elements in risk in Romania. the NATO Command conducted a high-intensity operation in a realistic scenario.

The necessary activities of deployment and re-deployment by air, of the NATO contingent of the JFC-Naples, have been directed by the Operations Office of the Capodichino Airport Command which has supervised, in close coordination with the OPS Base of the US co-located Naval Support Activity of the US Navy, the transit, loading and unloading operations of military carriers used by NATO.

The carriers have used the airport of Capodichino as APOE / APOD (AirPort Of Embarkation / AirPort Of Debarkation) making a total of 15 transport routes and ensuring the handling of approximately 800 military and 229 cubic meters of materials.

The Trident Joust 2015 supported the NATO Readiness Action Plan, announced at the NATO summit held in Wales in September of 2014.

The Capodichino Airport Command, at the time designed and built to be the headquarters of the Aeronautics Academy, former base of the 4 ° Stormo and 4ª Aerobrigata Interceptors, as well as the 86 ° Antisom Group, now provides logistical support to the co-located Authorities and at the US Naval Support Activity in Naples, as well as 24 flight line support hours a day / 365 days a year for military and state flights.

Since the beginning of the year, it has supported numerous domestic flights to transport patients in need of urgent care, often in imminent danger of life.

Since last 7 April, it has been ordinarily incardinated under the Command of the Support and Special Forces.
