07/07/15

From 22 June to 3 July, the 1ª Special Operations Air Brigade, based in Cervia's airport, hosted the training event called "Force Protection Scaglia 2015", whose primary objective was to increase the ability of the Armed Force in the field of the Protection of Forces.

The training activity has in fact represented a unique opportunity for the integration of various operational capabilities including, among them, not only those directly involved in the activity of Force Protection, but also various fixed wing and rotary wing flight arrangements, as well as capacitive elements of Combat Service Support.

Various Departments of the Air Force took part in the training: the local Force Protection Group, the 9th Wing of Grazzanise (Ce) and the 16th Wing of Martina Franca (Ta) with Air Rifle personnel, the 15th Stormo Combat SAR (Search and Rescue - Search and Rescue) of Cervia with HH-139 helicopters, the Dog Center of Grosseto, the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa with the C-130J aircraft.

Particularly significant was the participation, albeit only in the planning phase, of the component of the Electronic War Operational Technical Support Department dedicated to the use of the EC-27J JEDI set-up, which allowed to make a first study and appreciation of the possible uses of this advanced electronic warfare in the force protection tasks of an air base.

Of equal importance was the involvement of the structures provided by the 3 ° Stormo dei Villafranca which, in addition to integrating and implementing the Logistic Support capabilities available in the 1ª Brigata Aerea, have also made available the most advanced CBRN defense capabilities available today. in Armed Force.

The activity carried out was very intense and all the operators involved, coming, as mentioned, from heterogeneous realities and with both basic and advanced skills, have operated harmoniously and synergistically within a rather complex and articulated scenario. view of the level of threat to be countered.

The 1ª Special Air Brigade Special Operations has the task of ensuring the formation and training of surface and air forces in its dependencies, in order to make available to the Armed Forces and the Country a complete ability to plan and implement special operations and conventional in both national and international context, perfectly integrated with the capabilities expressed by the other Armed Forces of the State and NATO.
