Concert to raise funds for the "Bimbulanza" project

The solidarity activity of the air base of Galatina (LE) continues with the intention of collecting funds to be donated to charitable organizations, institutions and non-profit organizations in the Salento area.

On the evening of Friday 6 February, in the evocative setting of one of the hangars of the “F. Cesari ”of Galatina, home of the 61st Wing and the 10th Aircraft Maintenance Department, the ICO“ Tito Schipa ”orchestra performed free of charge with a lyric-symphonic concert entertaining the approximately 250 guests present.

The proceeds of the evening were donated to the project "Bimbulanza", the colorful ambulance with games used to make children who need health care travel and must be transported to places of care even far from home. The sums collected, once converted into “petrol vouchers”, will be donated to Don Gianni Mattia, pastor of the “V. Fazzi ”of Lecce as well as creator and manager of the non-profit organization“ heart and hands open to those who suffer ”and of the“ Bimbulanza ”project.

"It's the right way to start the new year," said Colonel Paolo Tarantino and Colonel Filippo Trigilio, respectively commander of the 61 ° Stormo and director of the 10 ° RMV organizers of the event. "Once again, the staff of the Galatina military airport and the guests present showed great generosity in supporting sectors of public utility: in just one evening sufficient funds were collected to meet about the 40% of fuel requirements to pay the commitments of the 2015 ambulance. In this case, then, solidarity had a very special appeal: it was in fact a unique experience listening to classical music inside a structure usually designed to host jet aircraft ".

The 61 ° Stormo is a "Flight School" whose primary mission is to provide training and flight training on jets of student pilots up to the achievement of a military pilot's license (phases II and III), for those who they must obtain the "pre-operative" patent (Lead In-to Fighter Training), preparatory to placing on the aero-tactical set-ups (phase IV), and which must perform the duties of "flight instructor".

The 10 ° Aircraft Maintenance Department is a maintenance organization placed in direct dependence of the Air Force Logistic Command whose primary mission consists in the technical and logistic management of the entire 339 fleet. The 10 ° RMV also ensures the operation of the arrestor barriers, cable and network, installed in all airports managed by the Air Force, both at home and abroad.
