Commemoration of the soldiers of the 15 ° Stormo fallen in October of the 1977

Last Friday, at the Creola church in Saccolongo, a ceremony was held to commemorate the plane crash, which took place on October 20 1977, in which 204 soldiers were killed on board an "Agusta Bell" model 5b helicopter of the Air Force, crashed into a cultivated field, after having miraculously avoided the bell tower of the parish church and a primary school in the Creola hamlet of Saccolongo (Padua).

The celebration, officiated by don Emilio Moro and don Giuseppe Benacchio, took place in the presence of Colonel Giuseppe Massimetti, commanded the 15 ° Wing of Cervia, of the major Diego De Marco, commander of the 84 ° C / SAR center of Gioia del Colle , of the deputy mayor of the municipality of Saccolongo, Elisa Maggiolo, and of the pupils of the nursery school of Creola di Saccolongo, children or grandchildren of the children who visited her in the distant 1977.

The ceremony concluded, Colonel Massimetti thanked all those present, turning a thought to the fallen that with their extreme sacrifice prevented their helicopter from falling on innocent civilians.
