Cervia: air force of raiders

11/11/14

With an intense three-day aviary of personal raiders, the 1 ^ "Special Operations" air brigade inaugurated the activities at the new Cervia headquarters. The activity of maintaining the parachute capabilities has involved, jointly, the 17 ° Stormo air force raiders and the colleagues of the 9 ° Col Moschin regiment, using a C-27J aircraft of the 46 ^ Pisa air brigade , for the execution of day and night launches on the sky-field of the airport.

As part of the reorganization process of the Defense sector, to which the Air Force contributes with the "Governance AM" project, on 22 September 2014, after a stay of almost five years on the historic site of Centocelle, the 1st air brigade " Special Operations "was relocated to the Cervia airport, formerly the headquarters of the 15th Wing. This with the intention of increasing operations and uniting at a single base, over time, different departments and capacities that already belong to the division of the brigade, thus allowing much more advanced integration and interoperability.

Currently, the 1st "Special Operations" air brigade is placed directly under the command of the support and special forces (CFSS) and is divided into four Stormi: the 9th of Grazzanise, the 15th of Cervia, the 16th of Martina franca and the 17th of Furbara.
