The event was chaired by team general Giuseppe Li Causi, general of the role of weapons and commander of the military aeronautical command of Rome, whose dependencies are placed the airport of Vigna di Valle.
The ceremony was attended, in addition to the military and civilian personnel in service, also religious authorities, civilians and military of the district, the banners of the countries of Bracciano, Anguillara, Manziana, Trevignano Romano and Canale Monterano, the forums of the combative and weapon associations , as well as voluntary civil organizations supporting the historical museum.
During his speech, Colonel Gresta thanked the staff of Vigna di Valle for the work done in recent years with absolute dedication and a great sense of responsibility. A commitment rewarded by the achievement of very high goals, both from the Sports Center and from the historical museum. Thanks to the precious work of men and women, in uniform or not, the Vigna di Valle headquarters continues to be maintained at excellent levels, even in difficult times such as today.
Colonel Gresta will take up the position of head of department in the military personnel aeronautical employment department (DIPMA), based in Palazzo Aeronautica, Rome.
Colonel Cencini, in taking the lead, highlighted how his department's guidance and addressing action will be based on maintaining and, if possible, also on improving the already very high quality level expressed by the prestigious armed forces existing at Vigna di Valle, such as the historical museum and the sports center.
General Li Causi, in his concluding speech, finally thanked the authorities and the various personalities who took part in the ceremony, highlighting how the brilliant results achieved in recent years by the historiographical and sports center are clear evidence of a careful and effective action of command carried out by the col. Gresta, but absolutely certain, at the same time, that the trust accorded to the col. Cencini for the new position is fully well placed.
Vigna di Valle is the seat of the historical museum of military aeronautics, which houses the most significant aircraft supplied by the armed force, including those used in the period prior to its foundation. The museum, in addition to preserving the historical heritage of which it is the custodian in the best possible conditions, also carries out important restoration interventions in its area. Vigna di Valle is also home to the military aeronautics sports center, where armed force athletes train in the most important world-class competitions.
Among the most recent significant statements are the 14 medals won at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
