Change of command at Lampedusa

On Thursday 29 January, the 134 ^ Remote Radar Squadron and Lampedusa Aeronautical Detachment ceremony between Captain Raffaele Capece, outgoing commander, and Lieutenant Vito Bitetto, incoming commander, took place at the command of the XNUMX.

Numerous authorities participated in the ceremony, presided over by air brigadier general Giuseppe Sgamba, commander of the 4th Telecommunications and Systems Brigade for Air Defense and Flight Assistance in Borgo Piave (LT).

Captain Capece, in his farewell speech, recalled the important role of the Radar Remote Squadrons in the surveillance of the airspace and thanked all the staff for their commitment and passion both in guaranteeing the efficiency of the radar sensor and in the tackle the humanitarian emergency that has affected the island of Lampedusa in recent years.

Lt. Bitetto, in turn, after thanking the superior authorities for the trust granted to him, expressed the hope that all personnel will continue to work with the ethical, moral and professional values ​​that have been demonstrated so far, so that they can continue on their path and continue to maintain and improve the standards of excellence achieved so far.

General Sgamba, addressing the staff, highlighted the professionalism, dedication and commitment shown to achieve the goals set and thanked Capece Capece for the excellent work done, far beyond the professional commitment required, wishing the lieutenant Bitetto a period of profitable command, full of satisfactions and full of responsibility.

The 134 ^ Squadron Remote Radar has the primary task of ensuring the efficiency of the assigned weapon system for the surveillance of the airspace of competence. The Detachment provides logistical and administrative support to the Armed Forces operating in Lampedusa and provides assistance to military aircraft transiting the Lampedusa civil airport.
