06/11/14

From Saturday 25 October to today, an Agusta Westland AW109 helicopter, belonging to the aeronaval operational department (Roan) of the Bari finance guard, has been redeployed at the detachment of the Brindisi AM to carry out environmental monitoring activities in the lower Salento, through aerial remote sensing methods.

The aircraft, equipped with sensors for high-definition remote sensing and sensitivity (photographic and thermal), has been engaged in the search for potential polluting sources that have an impact on the environmental and hydrogeological system of the monitored area.

As happened in the past in similar circumstances, the Salento detachment guaranteed the necessary technical and logistical support service day and night, ensuring ground assistance, air navigation and meteorological service as well as coordination of operations for refueling, in the sign of mutual collaboration and in respect and safeguarding the health of citizens and the environment.

The detachment of the Brindisi Air Force, employed by the Logistics Command support service, provides support to the "peacekeeping" activities of the United Nations (UNGSC) and "humanitarian" global service center of the humanitarian emergency response base of the Nations Unite (UNHRD) and also ensures, 24 hours on 24, 365 days a year, air navigation services for civil aviation and assistance to passing aircraft belonging to NATO countries, providing logistical and administrative support to the entities of armed force present in the Brindisi area.
