A child of just two years in imminent danger of life was transported urgently in the evening from Cagliari to Rome with a Falcon 50 aircraft of the Italian Air Force.

The aircraft, one of the assets of the Armed Forces 24 ready on 24 for this kind of need, took off at 20.00 approximately from the Ciampino airport to Cagliari, on the orders of the AM Top Situation Room. In the Sardinian town, where he landed just before the 21.00, he boarded the stretcher with the little patient, accompanied by his parents and a medical team for assistance during the flight.

Around 21.50 the plane landed at Ciampino, from where the child was transported by ambulance to the “Bambino Gesù” hospital in Rome.

Emergency transport, as happens in these cases, was requested by the competent Prefecture, activated by the "G. Brotzu" hospital in Cagliari due to the seriousness of the child's condition.

Missions of this type require maximum timeliness and the Air Force, through its Flight Departments, provides vehicles and crews ready to take off 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, without interruption and able to operate in any weather condition. There are hundreds of interventions of this type every year by the Air Force aircraft, vehicles that are always ready for take-off and that have the ability to take on specific medical and health equipment and equipment, such as thermal cradles, or even an ambulance with the patient on board, as in the case of the aircraft of the 46 ^ Air Brigade of Pisa.
