VFP1 students are offered for bone marrow donation

17/10/14

On Tuesday 14 October, the school of volunteer troops of AM (SVTAM) of Taranto was the protagonist of a day dedicated to the donation to the bone marrow donor association (ADMO) of Puglia.

Numerous were the young VFP1 students, currently in training at the school, who have adhered to the noble and precious commitment of the Puglia Region ADMO.

At the school infirmary of the school, well 70 students, after signing the informed consent and having therefore joined the Italian bone marrow donor registry (IBMDR), were subjected to the examination of the "tissue typing" necessary to establish the degree of compatibility between a potential donor and a patient in need of a bone marrow transplant.

ADMO Puglia Region - is an association that operates in the social and health field with the main objective of identifying potential bone marrow donors in order to support the fight against leukemia and bone marrow aplasia.

The bone marrow donor is one of the few donors who, once called to answer for their availability, is aware of being able to contribute to the attempt to save the life of a specific individual.
