Until 5 October there will be a phase comprising the deployment of personnel who will participate in the exercise, coming from various bases of the armed force.
The main objective of the Virtual Flag 14 exercise is to create an adequate number of professional resources in the field of air operations management in view of the end-2015 NATO certification of the Italian JFAC (Joint Force Air Component), that is the structure that allows to plan, coordinate and control all aspects of an air campaign.
The exercise will be developed in two phases: during the first, the training audience - that is, the personnel undergoing training - familiarize themselves with the structure and operating procedures of the JFAC; in the second, the practical part of the exercise takes place, centered on operational planning and the execution of an air campaign.
The exercise is based on the use of sophisticated telematics technological systems and Modeling and Simulation platforms, which allow to reproduce the typical scenarios of a real crisis context with a high degree of likelihood and, at the same time, to significantly contain the use of human and financial resources.
Unlike past editions, the Virtual Flag 14 is part of a broader and more complex training context, the Joint Eagle 14 joint exercise, which is organized by the joint top operations command of Rome and also includes the Eagle Joker 14 exercise. of the Italian army, which will take place in the same period in Puglia.
