At the 16 ° Stormo, the first course "Crew Resource Management"

Wednesday 11 May 2016, in the training group classrooms Survive To Operate / Force Protection (STO / FP) of the 16 ° Stormo "Protection of Forces" of Martina Franca, the first course has ended Crew Resource Management (CRM) dedicated to Air Fusiliers of remotely piloted mini-aircraft (APR) Strix.

The two-day course was organized by the office Flight Safety (SV) of the Support and Special Forces Command (CFSS) of Rome, on which the 16 ° Stormo "PF" depends, through the 1 ^ Special Operations Air Brigade (BAOS) of Cervia (Ra).

The goal of the CRM course is to provide the basic elements of the Crew Resource Mnagement to personnel operating in operational contexts with high levels of risk and stress, to complete the mission assigned in safety.

The theoretical lessons, alternating with the discussion of "case studies", were conducted by the consultant Sandro Monti, of the SV office of the Pratica di Mare Airport Command (Rome). The col. Salvatore Brancaccio, CFSS head of the SV office, who supervised the didactic activity, appreciated the "attentive participation found among the course attendees, which paves the way for new similar activities to be carried out in the future at the 16th Wing". 

Colonel Giorgio Piccirillo, commander of the 16 ° Stormo "Protection of the Forces", thanked the officers gathered at the Martinese department for the realization of the CRM course and said he was "satisfied for having allowed a selected number of personnel of the 16 ° Stormo to deepen the fundamental aspects of SV in the delicate RPA sector which today is in rapid evolution ".

Established the 25 May 2004 in Martina Franca (TA), the 16 ° Stormo "Protection of Forces" offers security and protection to the terrestrial staff, vehicles and materials, as well as installations and infrastructures of particular interest for the armed force, in the national sphere and international. These tasks are guaranteed by the "Air Rifle Battalion", composed of specialized personnel qualified by an intense training course, aimed at ascertaining the spirit of adaptability, balance, readiness, as well as the ability to operate in different scenarios for time extended.

Thanks to the use of the mini-aircraft with remote piloting (APR) Strix, i Airship Rifles they are able to ensure surveillance and reconnaissance, both day and night, in support of patrolling and patrolling of assigned portions of territory.
