Humanitarian aid to Libya with C-130 of the Air Force

Yesterday a C-130J aircraft belonging to the 46 ^ brigade of the AM of Pisa, carried humanitarian aid, including emergency food and medical kits, sent on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (Maeci).

The material is destined to be distributed in the area of ​​Tripoli and in the Benghazi hospital in response to the serious humanitarian situation in Libya and accepting the request for help from the Libyan national unity government.

On the occasion, the military personnel of the 'Movement & Transportation' of the Brindisi department worked in synergy with the personnel of the World Food Program - WFP.

From 2000, Italy hosts emergency materials stored at the warehouses of the Brindisi airport and the former USAF base in San Vito dei Normanni (BR) UN Humanitarian Intervention Base (UNHRD United Nations Humanitarian Response Depot).

The Italian Defense, through the Italian Air Force, offers support for the realization of humanitarian missions, especially on the occasion of serious natural disasters or other events that determine the need to provide aid and support to populations that suffer heavy inconveniences from these events, last in order of time the missions in the Philippines hit by the Typhon Haiyan, and in Mali.
