Aeronautica Militare: First flight of the 2015 for Sardinia

A C-130J of the Italian Air Force is engaged in the emergency transfer of a one-month-old baby, born premature and in imminent danger of life, from Alghero to the pediatric institute “G. Gaslini ”of Genoa.

The request for air transport, which was necessary to ensure immediate specialist medical care for the little patient, was received from the prefecture of Sassari to the Situation Room of the Air Force, which ordered the immediate take-off of a C-130J of the 46 ^ Air Brigade of Pisa .

The aircraft took off from Pisa shortly after the 11 and 30 at the time of the Alghero military airport, where it will load the ambulance inside with the small patient and the medical team on board, and then leave for Genoa airport , from where it will be transferred by ambulance to the "Gaslini" hospital.

The C-130 of the Italian Air Force is the only aircraft in Italy capable of loading an ambulance on board this type of medical transport, carried out for patients who require special assistance.

The Air Force carries out emergency medical transport with the transport aircraft of the 46 ^ Air Brigade of Pisa, C-130J and C-27J also using, if necessary, the special ATI stretcher (Aircraft Transport Isolator) which is able to safely transport patients at high risk of infection (also infected with the Ebola virus), with the 31 ° flock aircraft, with the HH-3F helicopters of the 15 ° Stormo of Cervia (RA), with the Piaggio P-180 of 14 ° Wing of Pratica di Mare (Rome) and with the AB-212 helicopters of SAR Search and Rescue squadrons located throughout the country.
