Aeronautica Militare: “100+1” years told in the 2024 AM Calendar

(To air Force)
23/11/23

The AM 2024 Calendar was presented today at Palazzo Aeronautica in Rome, in the presence of the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Air Force General Luca Goretti. “100+1” is the name chosen for this new editorial project for reliving together the path shared with the Italians in 2023, the year that the Armed Force has dedicated to the celebrations of the Centenary of its constitution.

In fact, in the year that is about to come to an end, the Air Force has started a "journey" full of events, organized throughout Italy, to tell its story by retracing the past and showing citizens today's Armed Force and the objectives for the future. Hence the desire to tell, through the images chosen for "100+1 Calendar AM 2024", the most salient moments of a journey dotted with events that brought the Arma Azzurra to the squares, beaches and most representative places of the our country.

“The cover image of this calendar – said the Chief of Staff referring to the photo portraying the Frecce Tricolori flying over the city of Rome – physically represents what the Air Force is: a compact Armed Force that plays as a team , a national pride resulting from the passion and sacrifice of all the staff. One hundred years have passed like a flutter of wings, in this year of "100+1" the challenges of the present and the future await us, with an Armed Force that has made, makes and will always make available to all those who aspire to operate one's natural and undisputed skills in the aerospace sector in the third dimension".

“2023 will remain as a milestone in the history of the Air Force,” added General Goretti. “We celebrated this first Centenary with enthusiasm, pride and pride, sharing our journey with the Italians and, at the same time, with the entire Defense and with the most important sectors of civil society, scientific and academic research, culture, the aerospace and information industry. We have crossed the 100-year milestone with an Air Force at the cutting edge of technology, equipped with highly specialized professionals which, with the same pioneering spirit of the first years, is projected towards the future to continue to be relevant in a particularly challenging geopolitical context. Now let's look to the future. In the next year we will be busy abroad on various fronts: for example, we will be in the United States and Canada to represent Italy in the world through the National Acrobatic Team and on that occasion, the Frecce Tricolori aircraft will also perform at Los Angeles, for the arrival of the Vespucci ship, currently busy around the world, demonstrating that the Defense is compact and united even outside national borders". Following this, the General recalled the appointment, next January, with Colonel Walter Villadei's flight to the International Space Station, engaged with the Ax-3 mission of Axiom Space "because - he concluded - we started with "Paper Wings" but we end up in space, as that is where we must and want to be. We must train the young people of tomorrow to keep up with technology, because vehicles can be built and modeled but the head must be able to fly in the exact same way as technology, this is the challenge of tomorrow".

In the 2024 AM Calendar we find an ideal journey that comes to life in the story of the most important initiatives that marked the celebration of the first 100 years of history of the Air Force and which contributed to bringing the citizens for whom it operates on a daily basis even closer to the Armed Force , 365 days a year. From the “Paper Wings” exhibition dedicated to the most incredible inventions of the last century, cinema and flight; at the historical Symposium in the Salone dei Cinquecento of Palazzo Vecchio, in Florence, from the military ceremony on the Pincio terrace, on 28 March, sealed by an aerial overflight of all the aircraft of the Armed Forces over the city of Rome, to the AeroSpace Power Conference at the Nuvola of Fuksas, an event dedicated to new technologies and future developments in the aerospace field; from the Pratica di Mare air show, an air show which, through the performances of historic aircraft still in operation and latest generation aircraft, together with the contextual historical exhibition "Campo 100", allowed for an immersive experience with the Air Force, experiencing first-hand the capabilities of the AM at the service of the community; at the inauguration of the AM Historical Museum of Vigna di Valle, renewed in its exhibition and concept, capable of attracting the younger generations more incisively thanks to the use of cutting-edge technologies; from the Technical-Scientific Symposium at the Aeronautical Academy in Pozzuoli, where authoritative experts gathered to discuss the topic of the development of hypersonic capacity, to the aerobatic season of the Frecce Tricolori, which flew over every Italian region from May to November as part of the initiative called “AM embraces Italy”.

Like every year, the collaboration between Aeronautica Militare and Giunti Editore will make it possible to distribute the 2024 Calendar through the widespread network of bookshops, with over 250 GIUNTI AL PUNTO points of sale, making it available throughout Italy to enthusiasts and the wider public. The editorial project was promoted by Difesa Servizi which, for some time now, has inaugurated a new path of valorisation of the calendars of the Armed Forces for the diffusion of Defense culture through distribution and marketing in Giunti bookshops.

The 2024 AM Calendar will also be on sale on the official Amazon store of the Air Force www.amazon.it/aeronauticamilitare
