AB.212 recovers traumatized from impervious area

An AB.212 helicopter of the 80 Combat SAR (Search and Rescue) center of Decimomannu, belonging to the 15 Stormo of the air force, rescued a traumatized hiker near Villacidro, in the mountainous area of ​​"Piscina Irgas".

The helicopter took off from the Decimomannu military airport at 07:00 local time, headed for the area of ​​operations which it reached after about 20 minutes. The particularly inaccessible area put a strain on the crew both in search and recovery operations. Once the traumatized person was identified, recovery operations began and ended positively at 07:29 am with the use of a stretcher that can be hoisted.

Immediately after the pilot at the helicopter controls, he directed to the hospital of San Gavino Monreale to disembark the injured person.
At the end of the rescue the helicopter returned to Decimomannu.
 
The 80th SAR center is one of the departments of the 15th Wing of the Italian Air Force that guarantees 24 hours a day, 24 days a year, the search and rescue of flight crews in difficulty, contributing to public utility such as the search for missing persons at sea or in the mountains, the emergency medical transport of patients in danger of life and the rescue of seriously traumatized patients. From its establishment to today, the crews of the 365 ° Stormo have saved about 15 people in danger of life.
