23/01/15

Today, in the very early hours of the morning, a Falcon 50 aircraft of the 31 ° Stormo di Ciampino (Rome) flew to transport two bags of life-saving serum (anti botulinum). The transport request was sent by the Prefecture of Rome to the Situation Room of the Air Squad Command which ordered the immediate execution of the flight.

The aircraft, after having loaded the two bags of life-saving serum, coming from the Central Warehouse of Prophylactic Material of the Ministry of Health and escorted by a patrol of the Traffic Police, left Ciampino and landed at Lamezia airport at 01:25, where the serum was promptly transferred to the hospital of Polistena (RC).

The aircraft then returned to Ciampino at 02: 30.

The aircraft of the 31st Wing of Ciampino are used for state transport and for public utility missions, such as the emergency medical transport of the sick, seriously injured and organs for transplants, as well as for interventions in favor of people in any case in risk situations. This service is carried out throughout the national territory, including the islands. The activity of medical transport, given the imminent danger to life of the people transported, requires a level of readiness twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year.
