Letter to Online Defense: is there a marshal's cane in every corporal's backpack?

11/01/20

How disgusting. The destruction is complete, the Ministry of Defense of the Italian Republic, accompanied by the entire political class, has made the impossible possible; through the decree law 94/17, commonly known as "reorganization of careers", has rewarded the demerit in a blatant and irremediable way.

Basically and in order not to complicate things too much, we can summarize the aforementioned decree with a simple concept: defense personnel, with stars, enrolled to carry out technical manual tasks through a banal form of consent included in the law governing the service of draft and dating back to 1986, they now hold executive positions held until yesterday by personnel entered in military careers through public competition and with a basic training background consisting of a high school diploma, however, having to pass a three-year training period and obtaining a degree first level.

In essence, while aware of diminishing the argument, the following can be said without fear: the corporals have become marshals.

Everything reported so far, not only in spite of all the other laws of the state, but above all in sharp contrast with the principles of hierarchy and duties characteristic of a pyramidal organization such as the military one, moreover realizing, through this flattening measure professional, one of the most contested aberrations in the military world, the one for which seniority ranks, a silent poison that has contaminated the Italian barracks for decades and that was manifested through the most well-known phenomenon of "hazing" today this disgust is re-proposed, like a disgusting and badly digested dish, through the anti-meritocratic provision that is being told.

One wonders with which animus the non-commissioned officers trained at the Viterbo School with the old, but above all with the new schooling process can welcome the new colleagues, what spirit of collaboration can arise within departments and offices, but above all how the line command can manage a category, that of non-commissioned officers, so heterogeneous and disunited.

At one time the marshal presented himself as a pillar of the military installation, by age older than the other comrades he had training and experience capable of arousing admiration among the troops and respect for his superiors.

How many company commanders have advised themselves with their "helpers", how many regiment commanders have made important choices through the wisdom of the "deans".

Today by law all this is crumbling, Italian politics in the name of a few more votes has decided to distribute degrees and qualifications as if they were privileges, acknowledging the requests of those who look at a tower from below, through an aberration perspective can say that all in all jumping down should not be so difficult, only to be terrified once you reach the top and near the moment of the big leap.

Dear representatives of the people, military ranks are not privileges, they are a synthesis of discipline and duty, they are a burden that only well-structured backs are capable of carrying, the military are not public employees, they are servants of the state.

The law provision we are writing about is a mine to the foundations of the armed forces, it is a serious blow to the hierarchical balance of the military institution, it is the true beginning of the end, when you realize it, politicians, the enemy's shot has already been fired and you no longer know who to send to the front line to defend yourself.

L'homme here goes.
