Renzi at the opening ceremony of the Academic Year for Army training institutes

This morning in Turin, in the presence of the Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi, the Minister of Defense, Roberta Pinotti, the Chief of Defense, General Claudio Graziano, of the Army Chief of Staff, Army Corps General Danilo Errico, and many other civil and military authorities, inaugurated the Academic-Scholastic Year 2016 - 2017, in the historic setting of the Palazzo dell'Arsenale in Turin, where the command for the Army Training and Application School.

President Renzi, in his speech to the officers and students attending all the Army Institutes and training schools, expressed words of appreciation for the work carried out by the Army in support of the population in the latest natural disasters that struck the country, emphasizing that Italy's memory calls for the best and for investing in quality through training.

Minister Pinotti, reading a letter from a young brigade commander who has just completed her command period, underlined the meaning of being commanders, that is to say that she was completely owned by others, committed by an ancient oath to do her best in every act, to be worthy of the men and women entrusted to him.

During the ceremony, the officers and student-goers were awarded prizes, the winners were awarded for overall merit, at the end of the 1 course year in the various Institutes.

General Errico, addressing the students, recalled that "the military education system must prepare you for new and higher responsibilities, because, besides guiding your men and women in delicate operations, you will be asked to work effectively at the alongside the security forces of fragile countries, to compete with law enforcement agencies to safeguard free institutions, to provide assistance and practical help to communities affected by natural disasters, to be able to dialogue in forums and participate in the organizations' organizations international, with determination and authority ".

Subsequently, the Army Chief of Staff officially declared the 2016-2017 Academic / Scholastic Year in video connection with all Army Military Institutes: the Application School of Turin, themilitary Academy of Modena, the Officers' School of the Army of Viterbo, the Foreign Languages ​​School of the Army of Perugia and the two military schools, "Nunziatella" of Naples and "Teuliè" of Milan. The striking tolls of the "Bell of Duty" sealed the solemn moment, calling to all the visitors the responsibility and the commitment assumed towards the Institution and as a deferential reminder for all those who, in respect of the oath given and the duty assumed, they sacrificed their lives for the good of Italy. 

 The Army Training Institutes have the task of preparing, increasing and consolidating, in the visitors, the values ​​that characterize the military, such as honor, loyalty, courage, a sense of duty, loyalty to the institutions. Every year the courses held in the Army Training Institutes are attended by more than 1000 officers, 400 official students, about 600 non-commissioned officers and 400 students of the Military Schools. To these are added the over 2500 visitors of foreign language courses at the Foreign Languages ​​School.
