Three commemorative works from the former "Vittorio Emanuele III" barracks in Trieste, erected to remember the deeds and value of the "Sassari" brigade in the events of the First and Second World War, have been relocated to Cagliari, Sassari and Nuoro, in the barracks which today house the soldiers of the historic regiments of the large elementary unit.

The movement, reallocation and valorisation of monumental works, which can be fully counted among cultural heritage, was born from a study promoted by the "Sassari" brigade, with the high supervision of the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape of Trieste, of Cagliari and Sassari.

The idea of transferring the monuments from the former "Vittorio Emanuele III" barracks, home of the historic regiments of the "Sassari" brigade during the first post-war period, of the 151st regiment until 1975 and, subsequently, home of other departments, responds to a dual need: on the one hand to restore an adequate location to the commemorative monument, on the other to implement article 6 of Legislative Decree 42 of 2004 "Cultural Heritage and Landscape Code" to provide historical-artistic valorisation to the works according to current regulations of sector.

The three sites identified for the reallocation of the monuments are the "Monfenera" barracks, in Cagliari, home of the 151st regiment, the "Gonzaga" barracks, in Sassari, home of the 152nd regiment, and the "Mauro Gigli" barracks in Pratosardo, in Nuoro, headquarters of the detachment of the 152nd regiment.
