(To ITC-ILO)

On April 22nd the International Training Center of the International Labor Organization and the Alpine Brigade Taurinense of the Italian Army carried out an exercise called "Field Security Simulation" at the ITC-ILO Turin campus.

The objective of the activity was to allow officials of various UN agencies to train themselves in reaction in a crisis situation, using the know-how matured by the Alpini of the Taurinense in over twenty-five years of international operations in risky areas from the point of view of security.

Particularly important was the ability to interact between the military and UN officials, especially from a procedural and operational point of view. This allowed the Alpine troops to further improve coordination with international organizations and allowed the representatives of the various agencies to increase their awareness, the ability to implement an adequate reaction and the knowledge of the specific operational procedures of the armed forces in areas of crisis.

The simulation, which involved over a hundred people in various roles, was characterized by a considerable degree of realism and was therefore particularly effective with respect to the objectives mentioned above.

For the Alpine troops of the Taurinense - who have used some of the structures of the 2nd Alpine Regiment of Cuneo on this occasion - it is the confirmation of the fruitful collaboration between the Army and the United Nations Agencies, which has been successfully operating in Turin for the past ten years.
