As part of the experimental and innovative project aimed at enabling the Army to acquire Arctic capability, the 2nd Regiment Alpini of the alpine brigade Taurinense he is conducting the final phase of a training cycle in a cold environment (Norway), which began more than a year ago in his homeland.

Alpine troops have increased their ability to live, move and fight in environments other than mountain ones, proving themselves to be a flexible tool, usable even in extreme environmental contexts with high psycho-physical stress. The harsh environmental conditions, characterized by temperatures well below zero and frozen/snow-covered terrain, require, in fact, considerable physical and mental resistance, necessary to withstand the cold for prolonged periods, as well as a high level of knowledge of survival techniques.

The training progression achieved, after a long period of preparation in an environment similar to the Arctic one and with the conduct of important exercises in 2023 and early 2024, such as the Quartz-Crystal,  Silver Wind , Winter Resolve, allowed the units employed and framed within a multi-weapon tactical group, on a 2nd regiment basis Alpini - reinforced by assets of the sappers, land (mountain) and counter-aircraft artillery, scout cavalry and specialist assets under the tactical information brigade, - to conduct offensive, defensive and enabling technical tactical activities, individual and departmental, on foot and on board all terrain vehicle (in the BV206 S7 and D6 versions), even in the arctic environment.

The high specialization of the personnel employed has made it possible to face and overcome the limitations on the mobility of the troops, on communications and on the integrity of vehicles and materials, imposed by adverse and suddenly changing environmental conditions.
